What it actually does.
A chemical peel is a precisely formulated blend of acids applied to the skin. The acids dissolve the bonds between dead surface cells, encouraging them to shed and revealing newer skin underneath. Done in the right concentration for the right person, peels are one of the most reliable tools we have for tone, texture, and pigmentation.
The trick is matching peel to skin. A medium-depth peel that's perfect for one client will create stubborn hyperpigmentation in another. We offer three peel systems below — they cover the spectrum from 'no-downtime weekday' to 'visible peeling for a week.' The choice is part of the consult.
Safety note: aggressive peels carry hyperpigmentation risk for clients with deeper Fitzpatrick skin tones. Our BioRePeel and VI Peel options are broadly safe across the spectrum; we screen carefully and discuss alternatives where appropriate.
What to expect.
Before
Skip retinoids and aggressive exfoliants for 3–5 days prior. Tell us about active cold sores, recent sunburn, or recent in-office treatments — we'll adjust.
During
We cleanse, prep, and apply the peel in measured layers. Most clients describe a brief tingling or warm sensation. Treatment is 30–45 minutes including post-peel care.
After
Strict sunscreen the next 1–2 weeks — non-negotiable. BioRePeel and PRX have no or minimal visible peeling. VI Peel will visibly peel days 3–6; do not pick or pull. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
