Renuva is an allograft adipose matrix made by MTF Biologics, a non-profit tissue bank. Donated human fat is screened and aseptically processed down to the structural matrix of fat tissue: the collagens, proteins, and growth factors that fat cells live in, with the donor cells removed. What's left is an off-the-shelf injectable scaffold.
Once placed, that scaffold does something no synthetic filler does. Over the following weeks your own blood vessels and fat cells move into it and the matrix is gradually replaced by your own tissue. The volume you end up with is yours, which is why the result looks and moves like the rest of your face rather than sitting on top of it.
We use it where lost fat is the actual problem: hollow temples and cheeks, deep nasolabial folds, a weak chin or jawline, thinning hands, and small contour irregularities on the body, including dents left behind by liposuction or injury.
At Colonial Aesthetics, Renuva is performed by Trisha “Trish” Spence, RN, CANS, a Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist with more than a decade in plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine, and a Renuva Elite Injector. Renuva is a specialist product; the placement and the dosing are the whole result.
Honest framing: Renuva is not a same-day filler. The volume builds over about three months as your tissue fills the matrix, there is no enzyme to dissolve it, and some areas want a second session. If you want an immediate, reversible change, hyaluronic acid filler is still the better tool, and we will say so.

What to expect.
How a Renuva visit runs, from the days before to the days after. Your provider walks you through all of it at the consultation.
Before
Skip blood thinners (ibuprofen, fish oil, alcohol) for a few days if your prescriber agrees. Arrive with clean skin. Plan for a week or two of swelling if you have an event coming.
During
We photograph, mark the areas, and numb. Renuva is placed with a cannula or fine needle into the fat layer, the same plane a surgeon grafts fat into. Expect 45–60 minutes including numbing.
After
Swelling and some bruising for several days to two weeks; the treated area feels firm at first. Skip strenuous exercise and pressure on the area for a few days. The matrix is replaced by your own fat over about three months, which is when we assess the result.
