FAQs

How long will I peel?

With the ZO 3-step peel, you can expect peeling 1-2 days after treatment, which can last up to 5 days. If you're concerned about social downtime, it's a good idea to schedule the 3-step peel around your work or social commitments. With the other peels offered, you can expect some flaking to mild peeling.

When will I see results?

Results are typically noticeable about one week after treatment, especially with peels that cause skin shedding.

How long do results last?

The results from a chemical peel are long-lasting, but not permanent. To maintain the results, we recommend following healthy lifestyle practices and considering seasonal or yearly chemical peels.

What are the different depths of the chemical peels you offer?

Medium-depth peels target both the epidermis and the papillary dermis, offering benefits from light peels as well as improvements in mild wrinkles and superficial scarring.

Can I get a chemical peel when pregnant or breastfeeding?

Chemical peels are not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

  • Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before any special event, as redness, swelling, and peeling may occur during this time.

  • Ensure there is no active rash in the treatment area.

  • Avoid Accutane for at least 6 months before the treatment.

  • Avoid laser procedures, and waxing for at least 7 days before your appointment.

  • Stop using topical retinoids 5 before your treatment to minimize sensitivity.

Post-Treatment Instructions

  • It's normal to experience some peeling or flaking but avoid picking or pulling at any peeling skin.

  • Redness, slight swelling, and tingling are normal and should subside within a few days.

  • Gently cleanse your face with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser.

  • Use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to help soothe the skin and maintain hydration. Reapply as needed.

  • Your skin will be more sensitive following a chemical peel. Stay out of direct sunlight as much as possible for 14 days.

  • Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day, even if you are indoors.

  • Avoid excessive heat (hot showers, saunas, hot tubs) that can irritate your skin.

  • For at least 48 hours after your peel, avoid activities that cause sweating.

  • Avoid makeup for 24 hours post-treatment.

  • Unless directed by your provider, avoid using exfoliants, retinoids, or other active ingredients for at least 7 days after your peel.
